Our little boy is getting bigger, just look at those teeth coming in and the mashed potatoes all over his face. It’s still been a bit difficult for him to keep them down at times, but we’ve been easing him into more solid foods over the past couple weeks. The most noticeable developments we’ve seen are in his personality and emotions. He’s becoming much more expressive from his laughter to his frustrations. Watching his personality come out has been a joy for us and the girls. He’s affectionate, friendly, “laid back” and loves to smile. Life is feeling much more normal as the weeks go by, but the thought rarely escapes us that each moment with Bowen is a gift.

Please keep us in your prayers today as we head back to U of M for Bowen’s first cardiologist appointment in months. Whenever an appointment is approaching, whenever we walk through the doors of the hospital, the memories of all that Bowen has endured come back to us. It’s not just the memories that come back, it’s the reality that no matter how much we pray and trust, it’s possible that we could get something other than good news about his heart.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

The Pepsi Refresh Project

There’s only two words that come to mind after not winning the $50k Pepsi grant.
Not Fair.
I’m kidding, the words that I really want to express are, “Thank you!”

Naturally, I’m a little disappointed that so many of you worked so hard to help us and we weren’t able to make it into the top ten. I saw so many of you give it your all and I’m deeply grateful! Every one of us would’ve loved to see the Whole Hearts Foundation get $50k to kick start our work of helping heart families, but I can see something more valuable than money that has been gained as a result our campaign. We have the reward of watching hundreds of people from across the country band together for the cause, and we have the knowledge and hope that we will continue to move forward together.

Grant or no grant, we plan to launch the Whole Hearts Foundation website this fall, which will give you a clear picture of the work we’ll be accomplishing. I’m excited for you to see what we’re up to and to get you more involved in our movement toward hope for heart families.

So many of you have already given so much, but I want to leave the invitation open. If you’re interested in making a tax deductible donation to the Whole Hearts Foundation, they can be received at the following address.
