Here are a few photos that Sarah’s brother, Chris, took on Thanksgiving afternoon. I think they turned out great.
Bowen’s first appointment with his cardiologist went really well yesterday. Overall she thought he looked great, but said his sats (oxygen saturations) were a little high. He’s still getting a little too much blood to his lungs, but as he grows into his shunt his sats should get lower. As you may have noticed, we’ve been trying to pack some pounds on him before his next surgery. He’s up to 10lb 7oz.
We also took Bowen to the endocrinologist for his Hyperinsulinism yesterday. They are keeping him on the same dose of his blood sugar medication, diazoxide, as well as continuous feeds for now. One of the side effects of diazoxide is “excessive hairiness.” Sarah and I cracked up the first time we saw that, but we actually think it’s taking effect. Our girls didn’t have hair until they we’re two years-old.
This morning I woke up early and was able to get some cleaning done. One of the things I was glad to finish was cleaning the syringes for administering Bowen’s medications. As you can see, I have a system that could use improvement. Someone suggested a pad for drying out syringes called “Grass.” I haven’t bought it yet, but I think I will. Any other suggestions?
If you’re interested, here’s a link to an interview I did a few weeks ago where I talked about the song “Lead Me” and Bowen.
I also want to thank challies.com for mentioning Bowen’s Heart yesterday. Challies.com is great resource to Christians who are hungry for daily spiritual growth.
