Matt, I was getting ready to go into church this morning, when I saw your tweet, “There’s a ring around the sun.”, but I couldn’t view the pic so, silly me, I actually looked straight at the sun to see the ring 😛 Ouch! Was that supposed to be a joke? Haha!! Funny 😛
I can’t wait! I pray everything goes smoothly for you during the recording of this much anticipated CD!
I hope Emmy and Claire liked the coloring pages 🙂
You are continually in our prayers and we will continue to pray. We understand the craziness since we’ve traveled similar paths. Thanks for giving us specifics for which to pray. God has used you so far and we know as you continue to follow and serve Him, He will continue to use you. Thanks for your faithfulness. We look forward to when the project is complete and available. Remember it is all in God’s hands. Let Him direct. Proverbs 3:5.6 and Philippians 4:4-9
Dear Sanctus Real Bunch,
Praying for a wonderful out-pouring of God’s Spirit on these next few days as you do this recording. May it all run real smoothly . How amazing is the Lord’s leading on you all from ‘Pieces of a Real Heart’ through ‘Bowen’s Heart’ and now we know what blessing is going to be passed on to many more hearts. We marvel at your walk with the Lord thru this suffering , Matt.
I pray too for journeying mercies.
God bless ALL your families at home. And may you guys grow in your service for your Lord
and EACH OTHER at this time.
Luvs from Belgium,

Our prayers are definitely with you and your family for Bowen’s continued improvement. Your story is such an inspiration. I have two grandsons who were born one week apart in July, one of whom was blue and not breathing initially, but God brought him through that and he is thriving now also. We do not know what God’s plan is for Bowen’s life, but we do not know is something truly amazing. Your music has always touched my heart and my prayer is that God will truly bless you and everyone as you work on this new project, that He will inspire the words and the music and I know without a doubt that it will truly touch lives. Praying for safe travel too. God Bless.
We are praying for you all daily! May God go before you and may He be exalted in this new recording, and may you and Sarah know God’s peace in a new way this week! Love you all!!
I have loved your music for a long time. I started following your story about Bowen in September. I know God is with you and your family while you are away from them. Take care and enjoy your trip. Remember you all are in God s hand.
You have my prayers! I know God will bless you for using the gifts He has given you to help others. I pray also for your wife as she continues at home being a mom of 3 with many needs. I pray she does not try to be supermom but lets God hold her up and give her peace and strength for each second of the day!
Matt, the glow that comes over your face when you talk about Bowen is so lovely! He is truly loved! Thank you for being so God-centered in everything you do. It’s so refreshing! I thank God for you, for the band, for your family for sharing your lives and how God is living in you!
I hope you got out of the airport in Iowa and on to Nashville. I am praying for your trip and recording of the new songs. I know they are going to touch lives and minister to people. Yesterday our pastor’s daughter, who just came out of a 6 month “mystery” illness and emergency surgery and is now healed, shared how through her journey she was initially praying for healing, and eventually prayed to have more of God. She said that looking back she would never trade the pain she’s been through because through it all, she encountered God in a deeper way. And He healed her “just in time” to leave for Africa tot make a film in January. It made me think of you and Sarah and the walk you are on with Bowen. God is good. He is so loving, and His plans are perfect. Have a good week.
Prayers are coming your way. God’s blessings to you and your Sanctus Real family as you work on this project. I know it will be a blessing to you and all who share it.
I have been following Bowen’s Heart for quite some time now but never commented until today. You asked us to pray that God’s hand would be on this upcoming project. I believe His hands have already been all over this project because it started the minute Bowen was conceived. Your whole family has already touched so many lives. Your faith, courage, and even weakness during these months have moved me and encouraged me to look deeper into my own relationship with the Lord. I not only pray for your family but I thank God for bringing your family into my life…even though I have never spoken to or seen you before! :0) God bless you and I will keep the prayers coming! <
yay video! looking forward to what God will continue to do thru this new project. Thanking God for Bowen and the rest of the family. Prayers have never cease and will continue to go in your behalf. Much love to the 5 of you and to the rest of the SR family. be blessed!!!
So excited for this new project and ALL the people it will touch and change!! May you fulfill all your dreams for this record!
Sarah~I will be sending special prayers for you and the kiddos this week as you are without Matt. You have an incredible strength that I think of daily, especially when things get “crazy” in my house. Sometimes I stop and think about all that you have to deal within the day (and night!) and I realize things could be worse!
Praying for you and your family during this time of separation and for your project. May you be back safely home with your family soon with an album that will be a blessing to all who hear it. God Bless.
Praying for you and your family. Your journey has given me so much faith. I can’t wait to hear the record. Blessing sent towards Little Bowen and girls. God Bless
Matt, Sara and family:
Yes Matt it is freezing cold here in Iowa and we are not even in winter yet……Hope you have a great flight and that your recording goes great in Nashville, at least it should be warmer there……LOL…You have been such an inspiring family for us all to watch and follow you have given every family hope by posting all your trials and tribulations on here for us all to read, you have an awesome family and so many people are out there praying for Bowen……God Bless you for what you do and your music….Merry Christmas and have a wonderful New Year……
Hey Matt, I am so excited about your new album!!! I continue to pray for that precious handsome baby of God. Your family is so very wonderful and I am so happy you and sara share with us what is going on. You all are such a blessing and we love all of you. My 4 year old Jayden was in the hospital for a few extra days at birth. The doctors told me his heart valves werent right and that he would be on medicine for the rest of his life. The valve thats suppose to open when they are born and the one that closes at birth werent doing the job. I was in such a fog and so scared and I remember in my heart I needed to just trust God and He would work it out because I couldnt. I called my dad and he put him on a prayer line. The next morning the doctor came in and said we have ran all the tests twice and dont know how or why but there is nothing wrong with Jaydens heart. I just smiled and said its all God and the blood of Jesus.I know God has a plan for him and my daughter. My son is healthy and will turn 5 on Christmas eve. such a huge blessing. we include you guys in our prayers and Jayden said mommy Im gonna be a doctor and fix Bowen. I started to cry my kids are so caring and loving. They really made me look at my life as a single mommy and reevaluate my walk with christ. Anyway I know Bowen has great things to do and you all are such a huge blessing and part of our family!!!!!Gods hand has never been taken off of you all! He is the Great physican and has huge plans for all of you. Have fun on your project and a very Merry Christmas!
You’re killing me! “It’s freezing cold, that’s why I’m wearing my scarf.” LOL! What about a hat and gloves? Thermal underwear? A winter coat??? I thought all artist wore scarfs for dramatic effect? That comment was so left field that it made my day!
Anyway… We are so excited to hear that the new project is underway and we are looking forward to it! I’m sure it will speak for all of us that have lived the microcosm of suffering in the halls of the pediatric ICU. I no nothing more harrowing, yet intensely spiritual. It is unfortunate that we are such bullheaded people that God has to take us thru the valleys to learn spiritual lessons we might never embrace otherwise. Once I had settled into the Clinic and acknowledged all the suffering that was taking place around me, my questions ceased being “Why me??!” and became “Why am I so blessed???”
No need to apologize for not posting more often. Family is more important. Praying for Sarah’s strength while you are gone. Praying always for Bowen’s recovery.
Thanks for being a blessing to us and giving voice to a story hundreds of thousands of us parents have expressed.
Thank you for the update! We understand all the business, especially with Christmas coming up too! Sorry about all the flight cancelations. I don’t know how much it affected all you guys, but we’ve been hearing the snow is just dumping over there. Will be praying for God to migtily bless your project and that you’d all stay healthy, safe and warm. Blessings on your week!
Hi Matt,
Praying for safe travel’s & a spirit lead recording for you and your band. I’m remembering your blog about “waiting”, which makes me think about church yesterday morning. I go to Applegate Christian Fellowship here in Oregon, my pastor is Jon Courson. He has been blessed with the ability to teach the word in a way that allows you to grasp things you never did before. Yesterday he talked a lot about prayer, and waiting on prayer’s to be answered. In any circumstance, be it….longing for a child, a job, healing, marriage, we all tend to give God suggestions on how we think the prayer should be answered. When all we should say is save me from this situation, and trust He will answer the prayer how He want’s & when He want’s. His timing is perfect! Look how long Sarah longed for a child…. Remember this when it seems like a prayer isn’t being answered. The longer the delay, the greater the delight!!
~God Bless~
I am continuing to pray for you, Sarah, Bowen, and your entire family during this difficult but such a growing time. You will definitely be in my prayers for the song recording. Whst a blessing that will be to others. It was such a blessing to me when I first heard and hits home in so many ways since I have two special needs boys. May God bless you with safe travel, successful recording, growing strength for you and Sarah, and continued health for Bowen!
Godspeed and blessings as you travel and for your family at home…your wonderful wife and all she is dealing with while you are away…..just lifting you all in prayer and especially for Bowen that God will ease the spitting-up, the high blood sugar and all in his mind, body, heart and soul that needs healing from his head to his toes we see the Hand of God upon baby Bowen and feel His loving Presence encamped around the Hammett family…..much peace
The concert last night was amazing! Thank you for coming to the tundra that is Iowa 🙂 Sweet little Bowen is in our prayers! Our God is BIG and He is WELL ABLE to do exceedingly abundantly above anything we could ask or think!!! God bless you!!!
Matt and Sarah,
So good to hear from you. It’s understandable with work, 3 kids and a family to care for that life gets busy. Baby Bowen and your family are constantly my prayers. I remember when our three were little. I’m not sure if you remember my husband and I who spoke with you briefly at Spirit West Coast in Monterey CA this last summer. Our son Justin who is now 20 went through major heart surgery when he was 5 & 1/2 months old and his twin went through several kidney surgeries between 2 and 3 years old. We have been so bless with each one of our kids. My heart goes out to your family. You two have been such an encouragement to many through your updates here and I’m so glad KLove keeps us posted too! We love you guys. Keep the faith! God Bless You 😉
Chery and Family
I have been following your family since day 1… i am in continual prayer for God to keep his hand securely around Bowen’s heart. (so far so good!) Now as life takes hold, and you must figure out how to care for Bowen, while living… i pray that God will keep you close, and focused, and for Sarah to remember what a gift Bowen is! Hold on to every second! Travel safe, and get home soon! Happy Christmas!
You have been a big encouragement to us. I am a mother of three young boys, ages 4, 2, and almost 6 months old. Our youngest was born in June with critical aortic stenosis. He’s had one heart procedure so far and the timing of his future heart surgeries is still unknown at this time. I am really looking forward to your upcoming album. The songs I have heard so far speak volumes. What a treasure and encouragement this album will be to so many. Thank you for sharing your life journey in this way. May God bless baby Bowen and your whole family.
Sarah, this post is for you. I pray that God gives you the strength that you need while your husband is away. God bless you and your family. You are an inspiration! I hope that Matt has a safe trip and can hurry home to you guys!!
Hi Matt and Sarah,
My family and I are praying for you and your journeys ahead. We are in Gilbert Az and go to Pastor Palmer’s chinchen in Chandler Az called The Grove. Just wanted to let you know May God Bless Your Family Richly.
We love reading your blog about Bowen and seeing what God has in store for you. Our Prayers are with you from AZ. Keep warm and We know you will do a great job recording all your Songs, especially our Favorite ALL OF ME. We went thru a losing our first son almost 7 yrs ago and it seems just like yesterday. Keep your Chins up. Your Family is so precious = ) Have a great week
Luv in Christ,
Rochelle
I continue to lift you guys up in prayer. I pray that you are safe in your travels and that you make it through the bad weather. I continue to pray for Bowen and I know that God is doing some amazing things in his little body. Your family continues to be an inspiration to all. Thank you for letting us share in your journey. God bless you all.
We will definitely keep praying for your family and your music project. God was sooo in the last one. You reached so many marriages with the song Lead Me. Thank you for that and we will be looking forward to the new project. God Bless.
Praying for the project as well as the family. Also praying that this project as well as Bowen’s miracle life will shine throughout the world and magnify the VISION of God’s love and GLORY!
Where in Iowa were you? We lived in Guthrie Center for 5 years, and today we went to Leon, IA to get our son. God has done a great healing in our family today! A year and a half ago our son left our home under very negaive circumstances. He married a woman and did not see or talk to us for a year. Last week God gave me a dream telling me he was leaving his wife, and coming home. Today he called and yes as I type this I am filled with joy, he is laughting with my husband in the other room watching tv. I know divorce is bad, but she has physically, verbally and mentally abussive to our son. Today he did not even want to get a car load of his belongings, but we were able to get him to agree to calling the police and getting some of his items. The police saw the cuts on his neck and the burns on his arms. We saw you at the concert in Columbia, MO in May. We told you our son had autism and that life was hard, but life was good and you would all be ok. I don’t know if you remember us, my husband is a minister and we were probably the last ones to leave that night! We are so touched by your faith, joy, and witness durring your difficulty with Bowen. Yet, the whole family seems so radiant during this time. Thanks be to God. Tomorrow night, marks the first anniversary of my mothers passing. I so wish she could be hear to see the healing God has provided for our family. Our son called his sister and apologized for all the pain and hurt and they were able to say they loved each other. Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4. We are moving to Ohio in February to work with a church there. We hope to see you all again if the Lord allows. We are praying for you and your new project. I tell everyone who will listen about Bowen and your story. God Bless and stay strong in the Lord and his Might. xo cb
You and your family are an amazing beacon lit way upon the hilltop for so many to see. I pray for strength and comfort for you, your family and your band and that you will continue to touch many people through this great work and display of faith which you are engaged in. Stay Strong!!!
If you click my name, it will take you to my blog which tells the first part of a three part story involving the health and livelihood of our three boys (one of which had surgery for a congenital heart defect at 12 days old). It will prove to be an encouraging story for all who follow.

Whst a blessing that will be to others. It was such a blessing to me when I first heard and hits home in so many ways since I have two special needs boys. May God bless you with safe travel, successful recording, growing strength for you and Sarah, and continued health for Bowen!

God Bless and stay strong in the Lord and his Might. xo cb

If you click my name, it will take you to my blog which tells the first part of a three part story involving the health and livelihood of our three boys (one of which had surgery for a congenital heart defect at 12 days old). It will prove to be an encouraging story for all who follow.
